  9. disease in his Doonesbury strip. But gay activists objected, and
  10. some newspapers temporarily dropped the strip. "The fact that
  11. he's a liberal with a good heart does not exempt him from
  12. criticism," said a gay critic. Others, however, praised
  13. Trudeau, who told a newspaper editor that his aim was to "attack
  14. the fear and ignorance by laughing in its face."
